A Red King Crab, or Kamchatka Crab, can weigh over 14 kilos and measure 2 meters from claw to claw. At this time of year they are at their best.
The huge arms contain generous amounts of smooth, juicy and delicious white meat. The body contains almost nothing of interest.
The price is high, but prying open the rather soft shell and harvesting the generous meat feels lika striking gold. It goes perfectly with champagne, not least if accompanied by a few drops of melted, salted butter (you need nothing else)...
